Safety
Generally safe for expats. Scams targeting tourists are the main risk — tuk-tuk gem scams, taxi meter refusals. Violent crime against foreigners is rare. Be cautious in entertainment districts late at night.
Healthcare
Bumrungrad International is one of the world's best hospitals — patients fly in from globally for treatment. Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej, and BNH are also excellent. A specialist consultation costs $30-60. Dental tourism is huge.
Internet & Connectivity
Excellent. AIS Fibre and True offer 100-1,000 Mbps for $15-30/mo. Thailand has some of the cheapest high-speed internet globally. Cafe WiFi is excellent throughout Sukhumvit.
Coworking
Massive. The Hive, Hubba, AIS D.C., and dozens of independent spaces. On Nut and Thong Lo have the highest concentration. $80-200/mo for hot desks. Many modern condos have coworking-style lobbies.
Food & Dining
World's best street food. Jay Fai (Michelin-starred street food — $30 crab omelet), Pad Thai Thip Samai, som tam at any street cart, mango sticky rice at Mae Varee (Thong Lo BTS). Chinatown (Yaowarat) at night is unforgettable. Fine dining: Gaggan Anand, Le Du, Nahm. The food courts in malls (Eathai at Central Embassy, MBK) are excellent value.
Climate Notes
Tropical. Hot (March-May, 35-40°C), rainy (June-October, dramatic afternoon downpours), and 'cool' season (November-February, 25-32°C). Humidity is consistently high (70-90%). The cool season is genuinely pleasant.
