- LGBTQ+ safety
- Marriage equality is legally recognized nationwide. Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta are exceptionally vibrant and welcoming hubs, though conservative attitudes persist in rural states.
- Driving & licensing
- Drives on the right. Traffic can be chaotic and aggressive. Foreign licenses are broadly accepted without strict exchange timetables, though gaining a local license is a surprisingly simple bureaucratic fee-payment process.
- Healthcare system
- A disjointed public system (IMSS) is vastly avoided by expats, who rely entirely on an inexpensive, highly capable private sector featuring many US-board certified practitioners.
- Walkability & transit
- Mexico City has extensive Metro and Metrobús lines but is immense. Most other cities require a car or heavy reliance on affordable ride-sharing apps (Uber/Didi). Sidewalk maintenance is highly variable.
