La Condesa is Mexico City's most desirable neighborhood for expats and affluent locals. Built in the 1920s-30s on the former grounds of the Countess of Miravalle's estate, it features stunning art deco architecture, tree-lined boulevards (Amsterdam, Mazatlán), and two beautiful parks (Parque México, Parque España). The café and restaurant scene is world-class. It was hit by the 2017 earthquake but has fully recovered. Housing is mostly 3-5 story apartment buildings with balconies and terraces.
