About Verbier International School
Verbier International School (VIS) is a co-education day and boarding school located in the alpine village of Verbier, Switzerland. Founded in 2011, VIS has grown progressively since without losing its family ethos and focus on outdoor education, currently welcoming up to 200 students aged 2 to 18. The school is rooted in the concept of holistic yet individualised learning where the classroom is only one space for learning, just as mountains, forests and sports fields are. Primary students follow the English National curriculum combined with an intensive French language programme. VIS is an accredited Cambridge International and IB World School, offering the IGCSE and IB Diploma qualifications for secondary students, grounding them in a thorough preparation for success in exams, while also encouraging students to strive for excellence beyond the classroom.

Individualised SEND programme are put in place before the student's arrival. The school recognises that all children have individual needs, strengths and areas of difficulty. Every SEND child in the school will have an individual profile (one page profile) that has been created through discussion with the child and the school, which summarises important information. This is a beneficial tool as it highlights key strengths and areas for development for the pupil. Pupils are able to identify key strategies that enable them to learn best. Teachers are responsible for the progress and development of the pupils in their class, including where pupils access support from teaching assistants and specialist staff. High quality teaching and differentiation for individual pupils is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEND.
