Hastings identifies the individual needs of each student and aims to meet those needs through a flexible approach to learning and teaching. Hastings ensures that children work at a level fitting for their age and capacities, and endeavours to support them through a range of interventions including direct support in class. Hastings believes a rich, challenging and stimulating curriculum, and close and constructive work with parents will ensure that all students will be able to reach their potential.
For small children between 3 to 5 years old, previous knowledge of English is not required. From Year 1 onwards the school may test the level of English to determine whether the child will be comfortable in class. Children learn languages very quickly. Joining at an early age is clearly an advantage. Secondary students need to have a proficient level of English to enter the school.
Hastings school has its own kitchen where specialised staff prepare balanced and nutritious meals every day. Older children also have the option of bringing a packed-lunch from home, and Secondary students can also choose to have cold or hot sandwiches.
