WhereNext publishes open, sourced, and neutral relocation data. We show the dimensions, source names, licensing terms, and provenance practices behind our rankings so readers can inspect and reuse the work.

How rankings are made
The Global Relocation Index scores countries across seven dimensions with weighted, confidence-adjusted normalization. The underlying 27-source set includes World Bank ICP, UNDP HDI, IEP Global Peace Index, OECD PISA, and EF EPI. These references correspond to the named institutional sources used in the index, not to a private survey or an undisclosed score.
Cost of living
Purchasing power, cost indicators, and national statistical data.
Safety
Peace, governance, and homicide indicators.
Healthcare
Coverage, physician density, and life expectancy.
Education
PISA scores, school life expectancy, and tertiary enrollment.
Career
Labour participation, purchasing power, and business conditions.
Lifestyle
Climate comfort, English proficiency, and visa friendliness.
Infrastructure
Connectivity, transport quality, and urban development.
Neutrality
WhereNext rankings are not influenced by referral relationships.
We earn no fees from programme governments.
WhereNext earns disclosed referral fees when readers choose to contact vetted partners via our providers page.
Licensing
WhereNext's composite scores and original compilations are licensed under CC BY 4.0. That permits copying, redistribution, and adaptation with attribution. Underlying third-party sources keep their own licensing terms. Visit the data downloads hub for the published datasets and formats. Sources & provenance
Our sourcing policy is .gov-first: we start with first-party government or intergovernmental data where it exists, then name the institutional source and its limits. For the Global Relocation Index, the source inventory includes the following named sources from the methodology page:
